EPUB Developer

Job Description

● Develop and convert content into EPUB (Fixed Layout and Reflowable) formats.
● Ensure compliance with EPUB 3 standards and industry best practices.
● Work with HTML5, CSS3, XML, and JavaScript to structure and style EPUB content.
● Handle complex layouts including tables, images, mathematical equations, and
interactive elements.
● Ensure accessibility compliance (WCAG/EPUB accessibility standards) where
required.
● Validate EPUB files using industry tools and fix structural or rendering issues.
● Collaborate with content, QA, and production teams to ensure quality and accuracy.
● Optimize EPUB files for compatibility across major eReaders and devices.
Required Skills:
● Strong experience in EPUB development (Fixed Layout and Reflowable).
● Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, XML, and basic JavaScript.
● Experience with EPUB validation tools such as EPUBCheck and ACE Checker.
● Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA, EPUB accessibility).
● Experience handling math, tables, and complex layouts in EPUB.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience with MathML, SVG, or interactive content in EPUB.
● Familiarity with educational publishing workflows.
● Experience with QA and accessibility review for EPUBs.
